Toss Report

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to field first against Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 44th match of the IPL 2021 here at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on Thursday. CSK have made just 1 change as Sam Curran was replaced by DJ Bravo. No changes in SRH’s playing XI. After three wins to start the UAE leg, CSK will hope to continue the momentum. On the other hand, SRH returned to winning ways when they defeated Rajasthan Royals on Monday.

Playing XI

Sunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI): Jason Roy, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Kane Williamson(c), Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma, Abdul Samad, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma

Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI): Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni(w/c), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazlewood

Both team captains

Williamson: Looks a little bit better than some of the others. We have to assess the conditions as quickly as possible. We need to adjust. For us, it’s trying to build on the last performance. We are going in with the same side. The guys are looking forward to it.

Dhoni: We’ll bowl first because of the smaller dimensions and looks like a fresh wicket. When you keep playing here, it tends to slow down. It may not be as slow as the other wickets today. In a tournament like this, it becomes difficult to come back. This year, all the boys have been brilliant. Taking one game at a time helps. We are thinking about executing our plans. Bravo comes back for Sam.

CSK beat SRH Highlights – Once again below par batting by Sunrisers: Pitch Report

Matthew Hayden –

“The roller has been doing plenty of heavy-lifting on this flat surface. The wicket has gone back to more of a traditional Sharjah surface. It’s actually got the kind of sheen to it which traditionally means that it’s really good to bat on. Tough for the bowlers tonight. Powerplay for both teams is going to be absolutely key, so watch out for the big guns up the top of both these batting line-ups. Otherwise, I think it’s going to be a real battle of attrition. One thing is for certain though, it’s going to be a bit bigger scoring match tonight.”
