2021 Cyclonic Storm Gulab Live Updates: Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and suburbs on Tuesday but no major water-logging was reported so far and public transport services, including suburban trains, also remained unaffected, news agency PTI reported quoting officials.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an “orange alert” indicating “thunderstorm with lightning, gusty winds, and very heavy rainfall at isolated places” for Mumbai and neighbouring areas for Tuesday. The Mumbai Regional Meteorological Centre had issued a newcast warning of “likely moderate to intense spells of rain at isolated places” in the districts of Mumbai and neighbouring Palghar, Thane, and Raigad during the next 3-4 hours.

Meanwhile, four persons are missing after a Maharashtra state transport bus was swept away Tuesday morning by strong currents from an overflowing nullah about 3 km from Umarkhed town in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district. Two of the six occupants in the bus have been rescued. In a viral video, one of the passengers is heard telling the authorities that the driver and conductor were stuck inside.

As Cyclone Gulab weakened into a depression, the IMD had issued a heavy rain warning in parts of Maharashtra for Sept. 28 and Sept. 29. In Ahmedabad, an auto fell into a pit that was formed after a road in the city caved in due to heavy rains. No injuries have been reported.
