The system of naming cyclones was adopted by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and member international locations of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission (ESCAP). According to the WMO, within the Atlantic and within the Southern Hemisphere (Indian Ocean and South Pacific), tropical cyclones obtain names in alphabetical order, and ladies’s and males’s names are alternated, whereas within the Northern Indian Ocean, the names are listed alphabetically by nation and are gender-neutral.
