Daniel Kelly ’17EDD will be part of NC State’s College of Education as an assistant professor of expertise, engineering, and design schooling starting Aug. 15.

Currently, Kelly is an assistant professor of STEM schooling at Texas Tech University. His analysis is concentrated on enhancing STEM academic entry and fairness for college kids at excessive threat of non-completion of highschool, equivalent to college students in foster care or concerned in legal justice. 

“I am excited to be returning to the College of Education to work with the amazing faculty and students and to help prepare the next generation of researchers and educators,” mentioned Kelly, who acquired his doctorate in expertise schooling from NC State’s College of Education. 

Kelly lately acquired a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER grant and was acknowledged as a Distinguished Technology Educator by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association. He based and served as editor-in-chief for the Journal of Foster Care. Before getting into academia, Kelly served as a center and highschool expertise and engineering trainer in Durham County. 

While a doctoral scholar on the College of Education, Kelly started an outreach program referred to as the STEM Explorers Summer Camp Program, which was designed for rising seventh, eighth and ninth graders who had been in foster care.
