Delhi’s performing arts lovers witnessed a celebration of percussion music as Bickram Ghosh and his fusion band Rhythmscape enthralled them on the Indian Habitat Centre. The night started with their composition The Dance of Shiva, adopted by Little Krishna and concluded with a musical composition together with Bickram’s high-octane tabla jamming with the ghatam and the mridangam. In between, the rasikas witnessed jugalbandis between totally different artistes and devices. “Rhythmscape is a celebration of life. I have been performing in Delhi for so long, and the best part about Delhi audience is the way they respond to beats, it is organic and in the moment. When they mimic my tabla cues with their claps, they are always on beat. Delhiites are closeted tabla players (laughs),” mentioned Bickram, after the efficiency.
