Doug’s Sports Rap: NFL Week One

Week one of the NFL season showed some predictability in individual players and teams, but also gave coaches a chance to actually see their teams compete against others for the first time.

I think no pre-season has but teams at a slow start, and with no actual crowd noise (unless you count the 75db’s of pre-recorded lame cheers and boos) there is no advantage to playing at home.

I was impressed with Bills quarterback Josh Allen, he clearly won the game with his passing ability, 312 yards in the air to defeat the Jets 27-17.

Tom Brady’s first game as a Buccaneer was clearly a pre-season performance, with a new team Tom terrific threw two interceptions, one was a pick that resulted in a touchdown, and a 34-23 Saints win.

Aaron Rodgers didn’t miss a beat, and the Packers beat the Vikings 43-24

Bill Belichick had to have been pleased with Cam Newton’s performance, with two touchdown runs making that a total of 60 for his career, and the Pats downed the Fish 21-11.

Russell Wilson and the Seahawks were on target as they defeated the Falcons 38-25.

The Nameless Washington team came back to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-17, and The La Rams, playing in their new crowd-less stadium defeated the Cowboys 20-17.

Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson showed why he was the leagues MVP, and the Ravens stingy defense had no problem with Baker Mayfield and the Browns with a 38-6 win.

Chargers defeated the Bengals, and the Cardinals downed the defending NFC champion 49ers.

The Bears win a nail biter that went down to the wire with a 27-23 win over the Detroit Lions.

Las Vegas Raiders Josh Jacobs continued to showed why he is a force in the NFL with  three touchdown runs a 34-30 win over the Cam-less Panthers.

Jacksonville got by the Colts 27-20.

The Giants will host the Steelers tonight, and the Broncos will play host to the Tennessee Titans.
