Host Michael Harriot Delivers Unfiltered Retelling of American History from an Unapologetically Black Perspective

New York, NY – July 11, 2023 – Sony Music Entertainment and Pharrell William’s manufacturing firm OTHERTone at this time introduced the premiere of Drapetomaniax: Unshackled History, a brand new podcast sequence from journalist, cultural critic, and the “Dean of Black Twitter,” Michael Harriot. Each week, Drapetomaniax will uncover the untold tales of Black Americans in historical past with an unapologetically Black perspective.  The first episode of the brand new sequence is available now.

Using a recipe that features detailed analysis, a bit of barbershop humor and a parade of movie star friends, Drapetomaniax will highlight key figures and moments in Black American historical past that had been beforehand whitewashed from textbooks. From the story of Rosetta Tharpe, the queer Black lady who invented Rock & Roll, to Forest Joe, an escaped slave for which America’s first police squad was created, Harriot will provide a compelling, hilarious and extra correct model of Black historical past.
