Xavier Moon scored 31 points as the Edmonton Stingers downed the Fraser Valley Bandits 90-73 in the Canadian Elite Basketball League championship game on Sunday in St. Catharine, Ont.

Moon, the reigning league MVP, shot 78 per cent as the Stingers took a 65-56 lead into the final quarter.

Junior Cadougan had 13 points to lead the Bandits while Marek Klassen added 11.

The Bandits handed the Stingers their only loss earlier in the CEBL tournament.

Former Dalhousie Tigers Sascha Kappos and Xavier Ochu were members of the Stingers, but didn’t see any floor time in the championship game.

The Stingers out-rebounded the Bandits 43-31, and shot 51 per cent from the field (34-of-56).

The CEBL Summer Series was played at the at the Meridian Centre in hub city of St. Catharines. The regular season was cancelled by COVID-19.
