50 comes up for Pakistan
Pakistan has gone past the 50-run mark. It’s a big challenge for this Pakistani batsmen to survive and make a match out of it. Cptain Azhar Ali needs to play a big hand if Pakistan are to come up with any kind of challenge and fight it out on the final day for a draw.
Broad breaks opening stand
OUT! Umpires call, it was just clipping the outside half of the off stump. Masood must consider himself a bit hard done by but it was a horrible error in judgement. It was to close to be shouldering arms. But Broad won’t complain. Good length, just nipping back in and it just clipped his front pad. Pakistan 49/1
Anderson Broad begin well
Three overs – two from Anderson and one from Broad have yielded only 2 runs for Pakistan. One of them was maiden from Broad. While survival is the key, the Pakistan batsmen will have to keep in mind that they have to keep the scoreboard ticking too. They still trail by 267 runs.

James Anderson will start the proceedings for England. Abid Ali is on strike. We will have 52 overs of play today provided rain stays away and the light permits.
Good news
Play will resume at 8:15 pm IST and it can go on till midnight if there is no intervention from rain and bad light. Enough for Anderson to get to the 600 wicket milestone?

The umpires have had a look at the outfield, which is still quite wet because of the heavy rain. They have decided to have a look again in about half an hour’s time. The good thing is, the rain has stayed away so there is still a possibility of getting decent amount of overs in.

It has finally stopped raining, the skies too have cleared up considerably at the Ageas Bowl and we are hearing there will be an inspection at around 6:50 pm IST, that is if the rain doesn’t decide to pay a revisit.

It’s combination of a light drizzle and bad light, one would have to say as the umpires have decided to go off. The writing was on the cards, it has indeed gone very dark here. Pakistan are at 41/0, Abid Ali and Shan Masood would be very happy with what they’ve done so far. They still trail England by 269 runs mind you.

There was a double change from Joe Root before the drinks break. He replaced Anderson and Broad with Archer and Woakes. They have settled into a decent rhythm so far. Pakistan are 34/0

Abid Ali and Shan Masood have done a brilliant job in seeing off England’s potent weapons James Anderson and Stuart Broad. Yes, Masood was dropped by Buttler off Anderson’s bowling but you do need a bit of luck on your side if you want to stage a comeback after being asked to follow on. Pakistan 32/0

Mike Atherton said the word ‘unbelievable’ twice and it was indeed. A genuine outside edge from Shan Masood’s bat, a regulation take for the keeper but the wobble confuses Buttler and he misses it completely. Guess who the bowler was? Yes, it was James Anderson, this the fourth catch that has gone down off his bowling since last night.
First boundary
FOUR! Perfect timing from Abid Ali. Yes it was a half-volley, it was on the pads but Ali does a good job by shuffling a tad and flicks it past square leg. Positive start from Pakistan this morning, they are 16/0
Masood off the mark
Thickish outside edge but in the gap. Shan Masood will comeback for a couple as Ollie Pope does a good job to pull the back in. First runs off the bat for Pakistan and Shan Masood is off the mark. Pakistan 3/0.
Pakistan openers need to stand up
When Pakistan were on top in the first Test it was mainly because their opener Shan Masood had scored 150 plus. Since then their openers have struggled and so have Pakistan. If they have to comeback in this Test match, Abid Ali and Shan Masood have to stand up in the second innings.
Will James Anderson join club 600
England’s James Anderson is on the verge of joining club 600. He is just two wickets away from the milestone. Anderson needs two wickets to reach the mark. Can he do it here?
