Despite having spent her whole life under the Earth’s floor as one of many Vault Dwellers, she heads above floor on a rescue mission and finds that issues have gotten mighty bizarre in two centuries. Think: big bugs, zombie mutants, lumbering tremendous troopers in mechanical armor — and Justified’s Walton Goggins as a noseless bounty hunter referred to as the Ghoul.

And whereas Lucy’s arc is certainly a hero’s journey, it’s additionally a completely unique storyline, no joysticks concerned. “We’re not going to turn this into a game. This is going to exist on its own,” notes government producer James Altman, who can be Bethesda Softworks’ director of publishing operations. “We want it to be part of one living, breathing world of Fallout…basically an expanded universe.”

One that’s overrun with radiated cockroaches, after all.
