Jeypore: A father-daughter duo of Soura Sahi in Jeypore town of Koraput district created history when both of them bagged gold medals in a Strength Sports event recently held in Bhubaneswar.

Biswanath Nayak, a noted powerlifter, and his 14-year-old daughter, Baibhabi Nayak, won gold medals in powerlifting at a single event but different age groups in Odisha State Championship 2022.

While Biswanath won the gold medal in the under 77 kg Master’s category, Baibhabi also bagged a gold medal in the under 55 kg below 14 age category.

Biswanath is an advocate by profession but his passion is bodybuilding. He had been pursuing his passion since his college days and has already won many district, state, and national level awards.

During training at home, his son and daughter used to help him with the weights. Later, Baibhabi also started training with the help of her brother and now has made her father and the district proud.
