Key Highlights

  • Ford Endeavour Sport is retailed as the Everest Sport in international markets
  • The SUV will face competition from the Toyota Fortuner TRD
  • The upcoming Ford SUV will come powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine

Ford India has finally confirmed the upcoming launch of the snazzy-looking Ford Endeavour Sport here. Though we have known about the launch for a while now, the American automaker finally made an official announcement with a teaser that was recently shared on its social media handles. However, the company still has not shared exactly when Ford Endeavour Sport 2020 will become available for retail in the country. But our sources claim that it will be some time next week, either on 22 September or 24 September.

Now, let’s move on to the details: The sportier take on the very brute-looking Endeavour, Ford already sells the Sport model in various international markets. However, internationally, it is known as Ford Everest Sport and not Ford Endeavour Sport. Set to face off against the Toyota Fortuner TRD, this will be the Endeavour Sport’s first outing in India.

Next up: What will be different? Well, compared to the standard model, the Ford Endeavour Sport will receive cosmetic changes both inside and outside, but no mechanical changes. It ought to come featuring a black grille sans chrome slats, black inserts for bumpers on either end, black alloy wheels, and black caps for ORVMS, etc. We aren’t sure yet if Ford will offer the same dark colour theme for the SUV’s interior as it does on the international models. If it does, then expect the car to get a contrasting panel on the dashboard, black upholstery with contrast stitching, etc.

As mentioned above, the upcoming SUV in India will feature no mechanical change, i.e. it will use the same engine as the regular model. The 2.0-litre diesel motor delivers 168 bhp along with 420 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will be limited to just a ten-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
