Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour are two of the best selling full-sized SUVs in India. However, the balance most tilts in Fortuner’s favour as it manages to rack up more sales than Endeavour. Even in August 2020, Toyota Fortuner sold in more numbers as compared to Endeavour. But the competition between the two SUVs most remains neck and neck as they both try to outsell the rival. In August this year, Toyota launched the Fortuner TRD model that comes sporting a handful of design changes and additional features. To match this, Ford introduced the Endeavour Sport model a few days ago. Now, we will have to wait to see if this sportier-looking SUV will be able to bridge the sales gap with Fortuner. Toyota Fortuner TRD, on the other hand, is 4,795 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, 1,835 mm tall, and has a 2,745 mm long wheelbase. These figures reveal that Endeavour Sport is taller, wider, and longer than Fortuner TRD. The Ford SUV also has a longer wheelbase which usually translates into more space for the occupants. However, both the SUVs offer 225 mm of ground clearance, making them more than capable of taking over rough terrains.

Ford Endeavour Sport gets provisions like an eight-inch touchscreen system with SYNC-3 suite, 10-speaker sound system, ambient lighting, LED headlamps, LED DRLs, puddle lamp, electric tailgate, push-button start/stop, eight-way adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control system, dedicated AC vents for second and third-row seats, semi-digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, power-folding third-row seats, semi-auto parallel park assist, and terrain management system with four modes — Normal, Snow/Mud/Grass, Sand, and Rock. 

Toyota Fortuner TRD, on the other hand, gets LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a seven-inch infotainment system, six-speaker music system, push-button start/stop, puddle lamps, electric tailgate with height adjust memory function, semi-digital instrument panel with navigation turn display on multi-information display (MID), Eco and Power driving modes, eight-way adjustable front seats, etc.

This tells us that Ford Endeavour is more feature-rich than Endeavour TRD on the account of provisions like a bigger touchscreen system, terrain management system, and panoramic sunroof.

Ford Endeavour Sport vs Toyota Fortuner TRD: Which one will keep you safer?

Ford Endeavour Sport gets seven airbags, ABS with EBD, front parking sensors, cruise control, electronic stability control with rollover mitigation and traction control, hill launch assist, cruise control, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, rearview camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill descent control, speed alert system, etc. Toyota Fortuner TRD, on the other hand, comes equipped with seven airbags, ABS, EBD, hill assist control, vehicle stability control, traction control system, reverse parking camera, speed alert system, etc. 

Ford Endeavour Sport vs Toyota Fortuner TRD: Which one performs better?

Ford Endeavour Sport SUV is propelled by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that generates 168 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque. This engine is coupled to a ten-speed torque converter automatic transmission and 4×4 drive system.

Toyota Fortuner TRD, on the other hand, is available with a 2.8-litre diesel powerplant that puts out 174.5 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. This engine is available with a six-speed automatic transmission. And unlike Endeavour Sport, Fortuner TRD is available with a choice between 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains. It must be noted that regular Fortuner is also available with a 2.7-litre petrol engine but that’s not available on the TRD model.

These figures reveal that Fortuner TRD is more powerful than Ford Endeavour Sport. However, the Endeavour Sport tips the scale at 2,415 kg while Fortuner weighs 2,610 kg for the 2WD model and 2,735 kg for the all-wheel-drive variant. This difference in weight is likely to compensate for the power difference between the two SUVs.
