SOUTH FAYETTE, Pa. (KDKA) — The former treasurer of two youth sports activities associations has been charged with allegedly stealing greater than $100,000 from two leagues for private use.

Lisa Howrylchak used to be the treasurer for the South Fayette Youth Lacrosse Association and the South Fayette Baseball and Softball Association from 2021 till she was relieved of her duties in May 2023. 

When dad and mom came upon Howrylchak allegedly stole cash from youngsters’s youth sports activities leagues, they have been appalled.

“To think someone would be a part of this organization and steal from these kids is unconscionable,” one guardian mentioned.

According to police paperwork, Howrylchak is accused of constructing unauthorized transactions totaling almost $82,000 because the lacrosse affiliation’s treasurer and simply over $88,000 because the baseball and softball affiliation’s treasurer. 

She reportedly used the cash for issues like baseball and hockey funds for her children, kenneling for her pets, garments, automotive funds and extra.

In a statement posted to its Facebook page, the South Fayette Baseball and Softball Association mentioned, partially:

“The board instituted numerous security measures to prevent future occurrences. Additionally, the board is currently evaluating all options available to recoup the funds.”

Court paperwork states Howrylchak admitted to the crimes however not earlier than forging and falsifying monetary statements to cowl her tracks. She advised police she saved a tally of her spending and deliberate to pay each penny again.
