HYDERABAD: In a serious increase to the state’s manufacturing sector, third-party cellphone and peripherals contract producer Foxconn Group on Saturday introduced a further funding of $400 million into Telangana. The group had introduced in March an funding of $150 million and laid the inspiration for building of its manufacturing unit in Kongarakalan on town outskirts in May.

Industries minister Ok.T. Rama Rao hailed the corporate’s determination to infuse extra funding, taking its whole to $550 million.

The Taiwan-based contract producer Foxconn Interconnect Technology Ltd (FIT) is Apple’s greatest provider. It is prone to manufacture AirPods together with different digital peripherals at its Kongarakalan facility.

“Moving so fast, Telangana. Another $400 million is coming (sic),” V. Lee, Foxconn’s India consultant, introduced on his LinkedIn wall, whereas sharing FIT Hon Teng Limited’s ‘voluntary announcement’ that the corporate had made to the Hong Kong bourse.

Reacting to Lee’s put up, Rama Rao tweeted on Saturday, “Our friendship with Foxconn Group remains steadfast, each of us delivering on mutual commitments. With total infusement of $550m (adding previous $150m), FIT is poised to deliver on its promises in Telangana. This once again proves Telangana Speed (sic).”

Foxconn chairman Young Liu had referred to as on Chief Minister Ok. Chandrashekar Rao and Rama Rao in March and mentioned the corporate’s funding plans for Telangana. The state authorities allotted 200 acres in Kongarakalan to Foxconn to arrange its manufacturing facility for which Rama Rao laid the inspiration stone on May 15.
