The Punjab vigilance bureau Monday questioned Dr Harjot Kamal in probe associated to alleged bungling in buy of sports activities kits throughout his tenure as Moga MLA. Kamal was elected MLA from Moga in 2017 on Congress ticket. However, forward of Assembly polls final 12 months, he had switched to BJP.

“According to the complaint, he distributed sports kits in his constituency worth approximately Rs 5 crore ahead of Assembly polls last year. There are allegations of large-scale bungling in their purchase. It is being alleged that they were of sub-standard quality and in some areas, the kits were purchased only on paper and never reached beneficiaries even as the fund was sanctioned by the government,” mentioned the vigilance official.

Kamal had resigned from Congress after the social gathering gave Assembly election ticket to Malvika Sood Sachar, sister of actor Sonu Sood, from Moga final 12 months. Kamal contested as BJP nominee however ended up a distant fourth within the polls that had been received by AAP’s Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Kamal mentioned that through the fag finish of earlier Congress authorities’s tenure, “Punjab Nirmaan Fund” was sanctioned to put in health club and sports activities tools in villages. “The fund is received by the deputy commissioner.
