The grand festive season in India has already begun. After celebrating Rakshabandan and Janmashtami with much fanfare, we are now looking forward to partaking in the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. The festival marks the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesh, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. As per legends, Lord Ganesh was born during Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi usually falls in the month of August or September, and this time it will be observed on August 31, 2022. Ganesh Chaturhti (or Ganeshotsav) is a 10-day-long festival that culminates on Anant Chaturdashi. The last day is popularly celebrated as Ganesh Visarjan day.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2022: History, Significance And Rituals 

Devotees worship Lord Ganesh for prosperity and good future on this day. As per legends, Ganesh Chaturthi marks the rebirth of the God Ganesh. That’s why Ganesh Chaturthi also signifies ‘new beginnings’.  

It is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Madhyahna – in the middle of the day. So mid-day is considered the most auspicious time for Ganesh Puja, also called Shodashopachara Ganapati Puja. Idols of Lord Ganesh are brought home for Ganesh Sthapana and offered prayers and bhog every day for 10 days. On Anant Chaturdashi, devotees immerse the idols of Lord Ganesh in water bodies.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2022: Bhog Recipes To Prepare 

While modak is the most popular mithai to make for Ganesh Chaturthi bhog, there are many more foods that you can prepare for prasad and for the feast for your family and friends. Here they are:
