LUVERNE, Ala. (WSFA) – Crenshaw County officers broke floor on what they are saying is the most important undertaking within the county’s historical past.

The county is welcoming a $15 million sports activities complicated on Highway 331 previous the Crenshaw County Hospital in Luverne. It may have eight baseball and softball fields, two soccer fields, observe and discipline space, a leisure automobile park and a lake.

“Gives something for the community, something for economic growth, something for families to come to,” stated Crenshaw County Commissioner Raymond McGough.

McGough stated Crenshaw County is made up of households, and this facility will enable them to spend their cash there and herald others to spice up the native financial system.

“They’re going to other places and spending their money, taking their time. It’s a lot of work on them, a lot of expense on them,” he stated.

Developers of the undertaking and other people locally got here out to assist the complicated at Tuesday’s groundbreaking. One resident, Samantha Bagwell, stated “I’m excited to see the growth that it’s going to bring to our county. As a young professional in Crenshaw County, we need this. We need this growth and economic opportunity.”
