PETALING JAYA: Malaysians who have returned to the country from India are in good health and show no Covid-19 symptoms, says the Health Ministry.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they were all tested by health officials on duty at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

He said this involved 96 Malaysians, comprising 92 adults and four children.

“They have all been placed at the Higher Education Leadership Academy (Akept) in Bandar Enstek, Nilai, Negri Sembilan, for 14 days,” he said in a statement on Saturday (July 18).

He said they were not undergoing home quarantine as they had returned from a high-risk country.

It was reported that these Malaysians returned to the country on a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Mission after being stranded in India due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

Dr Noor Hisham added that health officials from the Seremban Health Office in Negeri Sembilan would be monitoring their health.

“Health screening will be done twice a day to ensure that they are really healthy and that they are able to leave (the place) once the monitoring process ends,” he said.
