WEST SALEM, Wis. (CBS 58) — Wisconsin’s sweet corn season is almost over, but in La Crosse county, one farmer’s crop never made it out of the field.

Instead, Bret Miller earns his living between the rows.

Every season, hundreds of people make their way through the stalks of the Hidden Trails Corn Maze. The twists and turns are carefully calculated months before the first seed is planted.

“I want people to put down the screens and phones and just enjoy the farm life,” Miller, co-owner of Hidden Trails Maze, said.

The corn isn’t cut to make the maze, rather the seeds are planted according to a map. A GPS guides a tractor for the planting.

All 12 acres are completed in just a few hours.

The Hidden Trails Corn Maze in West Salem is open Wednesday through Sunday, between now and Halloween.
