RAPID CITY, S.D. — It was a beautiful Saturday in the park, although it wasn’t the Fourth of July.

It was Hill City’s first-ever “Saturday in the Park–Music on the Green”, and it was a perfect way to end the day. The concert was originally meant to be part of a larger summer concert series but was amended for safety.

The event was held at the Hill City Visitor Information Center and allowed for social distancing. It was also an opportunity to showcase a part of Hill City. Music was provided by Brent Morris and the Western Acoustics who performed classic country hits for the crowd and despite the change in plans, the turnout was significant.

“We are really pleased with the weather, we were very blessed and lucky to have the good weather to bring people here, the perfect time of day, and so many nice volunteers who came to help us out,” said Janet Wetovick-Bily, the Executive Director for the Hill City Chamber of Commerce. “And it’s a great time for people to enjoy themselves and social distance, and enjoy some fellowship and music at the same time.”

The concert provided more than just entertainment to locals and visitors, the concert was also an opportunity to give back to the community. Visitors were able to participate in a free-will donation for the local Hill City food pantry.
