Sri Lanka’s foremost entertainment brand Evoke International Ltd. recently turned 13. Evoke pri-marily concentrates on offering Value Added Services (VAS) to telecommunication providers. It also offers a wide range of innovative, data-driven and customer-centric products including mobile and web applications, WAP products, IVR and voice services, SMSC, content aggregation, content production and digital media.

EvoPlay by Evoke is a recently launched web and app based platform that lets anyone access and view Sri Lankan movies, tele-dramas, talk shows, music videos and other content without having to pay any subscription fees. Evoke also holds mobile distribution rights to some of the most popular movies and teledramas of legendary archivist Tissa Nagodawithana’s library spanning from the 50s to date.

Evoke is the entertainment partner for national connectivity provider Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Mo-bitel Ltd. powering its Caller Tune service for fixed line customers. Evoke works closely with the four local mobile operators as a value added services and content partner.

Since 2013, Evoke has been the local partner for India’s largest repository for entertainment con-tent, Hungama. As the local partner, Evoke has facilitated thousands of Sri Lankans access to Hungama’s elaborate portfolio that includes over 5,000 movies in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Commenting on the journey over the years, Founding CEO/Director Lahiru Wickramasinghe stated: “Over the past 13 years, Evoke has positioned itself as the go-to brand in Sri Lanka for entertain-ment content. We are humbled to have worked with some of the country’s most respected brands in our brief tenure and we look forward to many more win-win collaborations in years to come.”

Wickramasinghe further thanked the team at Evoke for their hard work which has served to ele-vate the brand to its current standing: “I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all staff members for giving their 110% especially in the past two years under less-than-ideal circumstances due to the global pandemic. At Evoke we foster a culture of accommodation, innovation and col-laboration – this is the secret behind our success.”

In terms of what the future holds for Evoke, the Founder noted that the organisation was in the process of exploring the feasibility for overseas expansion, particularly to the Middle East and the Maldives.
