NEW YORK/NEW DELHI (Reuters) – The alleged plot to assassinate a Sikh separatist on U.S. soil started in May, with a textual content message between what the American indictment says was an Indian safety official and an alleged medicine trafficker.

“Save my name,” the official wrote to a person named Nikhil Gupta over an encrypted messaging software on May 6, in accordance with U.S. prosecutors.
