Terming it a deliberate try to impress and intimidate the residents of the Union Territory, APHC chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq issued an announcement on Sunday.
“The National Investigation Agency (NIA) seeking the death penalty for Yasin Malik is deeply disturbing for the people of J&K… Unfortunately, one after the other, such directives and decrees are brought in by the authorities — who claim peace and development is their agenda — which seem a deliberate attempt to provoke and intimidate people and add to their concerns and fears,” the assertion mentioned.
The NIA has demanded demise penalty for Malik in a petition filed earlier than the Delhi High Court, difficult the life sentence given to him in a terror funding case.
