The analysis centre of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, established by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), will embrace professional scientists from the DRDO and the institute’s teachers from varied disciplines to conduct cutting-edge analysis to develop superior defence applied sciences.

The DRDO Industry Academia-Ramanujan Centre of Excellence (DIA-RCoE) is aimed toward contributing to the nation’s self-reliance within the defence sector.

Institute director V. Kamakoti mentioned the centre would collaborate with the trade, the academia and the DRDO to develop “Aatmanirbhar technologies for the critical needs of our country. Specifically, this will provide a first-of-its-kind opportunity for start-ups and MSMEs to participate in this critical nation-building activity.”

Manu Santhanam, Dean (Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research), mentioned the institute would develop core competencies in analysis areas, recognized along with the DRDO, to assist its future programmes.

O.R. Nandagopan, not too long ago appointed because the director of the centre, mentioned the DRDO connected excessive precedence to growing futuristic applied sciences and techniques for defence by the academia and the trade.

DRDO scientists with experience would affiliate themselves with the tutorial schools and researchers, IIT Madras officers mentioned.
