“That’s the hope of this event,” she mentioned. “If we can make this town be culturally inclusive, different people from different parts of the world will want to come here and still have a remembrance of their own culture.”
Dixon mentioned working with minority communities permits authenticity.
“It’s the real thing and we want the rest of the world to see Topeka as multicultural and diverse,” he mentioned. “Now, with the India Mela, we get to celebrate our friends and neighbors of Indian descent and celebrate amazing culture, some amazing food that people may not know is here and a part of Topeka.”
