NEW DELHI: India is ready to produce 5 billion vaccine doses by the end of next year, PM Modi said on Saturday at the G20 summit in Rome.
Quoting the Prime Minister, foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that the vaccine doses will be made available to the world at large.
“We also believe that WHO’s EUA (emergency use authorisation) for Covaxin would felicitate this process of assisting other countries,” he added.
India’s medical supplies to over 150 countries spoke about the vision of “One Earth, One Health” which is a collaborative approach in fight against Covid-19, the foreign secretary said.
PM Modi has invited G20 countries to make India their partner in economic recovery and supply chain diversification, while reminding that India remains a trusted partner in context of reliable supply chains, he said.
Apart from Covid and health issues, the leaders also discussed the global energy crisis, Shringla said.
The G20 summit got underway in the Italian Capital Rome on Saturday.
On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi held bilateral talks with several leaders.

In a series of photos tweeted by the PMO India, Prime Minister Modi is seen meeting US President Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In Modi’s meeting with Macron, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the strategic partnership between the two countries. Modi also invited Macron to visit India.
PM Modi also had a “fruitful meeting” with his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong, the PMO tweeted.

On Sunday, the Prime Minister is expected to meet with Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the sidelines of the G20 summit, besides participating in discussions on “Climate Change and Environment and Sustainable Development”. There will be a global summit on supply chain resilience, according to sources.
He will also attend an event hosted by US President Joe Biden on “Supply Chain Resilience” and hold other bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the G20 summit, foreign secretary Shringla said.
The Rome summit is being attended by heads of state and government of G20 member countries, the European Union, and other invited countries and several international organisations.
The summit is centred around the theme “People, Planet, Prosperity,” focusing on the areas of recovery from the pandemic and strengthening of global health governance.
From Rome, PM Modi will travel to Glasgow for the UN climate meet COP26, on Nov 1 and 2.
