MUMBAI, May 18 (Reuters) – The Reserve Bank of India seemingly bought {dollars} by way of public sector banks after the rupee weakened previous 82.50 to the U.S. greenback on Thursday, its lowest in virtually two months, three merchants instructed Reuters.

The rupee was at 82.4675 to the greenback, having fallen to 82.5575 earlier on worries over money greenback scarcity.

“It looks like RBI for decided to step in, which is not a big surprise,” a dealer at a non-public sector financial institution stated.

“Not sure how much of an impact the intervention will have with the cash dollar situation.”
