India’s Adani hires world crew for Mumbai slum overhaul undertaking

NEW DELHI (Reuters) – Indian billionaire Gautam Adani’s three way partnership with Mumbai’s slum rehabilitation authority has employed a worldwide crew to redevelop Dharavi, a key step in rebuilding certainly one of Asia’s greatest slums amid rising opposition to the undertaking.

DRPPL was arrange in July and hiring of the crew assumes significance because it comes amid allegations from a rival bidder that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allies afforded Adani beneficial remedy whereas residents fear about his capability to ship amid high-profile monetary setbacks.

The Adani group has mentioned the Dharavi undertaking was awarded via a good, open and internationally aggressive bidding course of. The state authorities has denied any wrongdoing.

Thousands of protests marched towards Adani’s workplaces in Mumbai final month to voice their opposition to his conglomerate’s redevelopment plans.
