NEW DELHI (AP) — India all-rounder and vice-captain Hardik Pandya has been dominated out of the Cricket World Cup in a blow to the so-far unbeaten host’s marketing campaign for a 3rd title.

The 30-year-old suffered a left ankle damage in India’s seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Pune final month and was in a combat to regain health forward of the match’s knockout levels.

Since then, he has missed video games towards New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka as India continued its profitable spree, going unbeaten within the match throughout its seven video games.

In Pandya’s absence, Mohammed Shami has performed all three video games and picked up 14 wickets, together with two five-wicket hauls. The two-time champions are the primary staff to qualify for the semi-finals with two video games in hand.

Pacer Prasidh Krishna has been introduced in as alternative for Pandya, after gaining approval from ICC’s match technical committee. The 27-year-old has performed 17 one-day internationals and brought 29 wickets.

India takes on South Africa in Kolkata on Sunday after which performs the Netherlands in Bengaluru on Nov. 12.

It will play its semifinal in Mumbai on Nov. 15, except it meets archrival Pakistan within the final 4 — wherein case the sport could be performed in Kolkata on Nov. 16.
