CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY)  — The Island Arts Festival is increasing to 2 days this 12 months on Pleasure Island providing artwork, music, distributors and extra.

“The festival’s theme, ‘I AM ART’ is being celebrated with demonstrations, hands-on activities and performances showing how art is around, within and upon us,” says Carey Jones, Island Council member and pageant supervisor.

Jones says pageant goers are inspired to take part within the “I Am Art” theme by sporting inventive headpieces or costumes.

The pageant kicks off with a Gallery Night from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, May fifth at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Community Center and resumes at 10 a.m. on Saturday May 6 across the Carolina Beach Lake.

The occasion showcases greater than 100 artists and performers over the 2 days, with the Friday gallery evening highlighting award profitable artists, Latin music, beer, wine tasting and a stylized charcuterie board by artist, Beth Bernstein.

Saturday’s outside pageant consists of artwork on the market, reside artwork demonstrations, performances, and hands-on enjoyable. Entertainment and actions embody:

The pageant’s signature Imagination Station, positioned on the lake’s island, options splatter portray enjoyable for teenagers.

This 12 months’s pageant marks the twelfth 12 months of this interactive arts occasion that started as a gathering of some native artists.

It now hosts among the area’s finest positive artwork and positive crafts artists, avenue performers and culinary artists.

Formed in 2011, the Island Arts Council fosters the expansion of arts occasions, public arts, native organizations, and artists to extend consciousness and appreciation of the wealthy arts and tradition in Carolina Beach and Kure Beach and to advertise the island as a
