Click here to register and download instructions. The Nantucket Conservation Foundation has brought back its Staycation Scavenger Hunt, a self-guided, self-paced exploration of its properties. Prizes for completing the hunt.

10×10 Exhibition
10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington St. The Artists Association of Nantucket presents its annual 10×10 exhibition, in which every piece on display measures 10 inches by 10 inches. Click here to view the online exhibition of the same name.

Monday, Sept. 14

Sankaty Swing Golf Tournament
9 a.m. Sankaty Head Golf Club, 100 Sankaty Road. The Swing for Nantucket Cottage Hospital golf fundraiser returns in 2020, but in modified fashion to abide by coronavirus guidelines and restrictions. A total of 32 foursomes will make up the field, and prizes include gift-certificates from the Sankaty Head Golf Club pro shop as prizes for those with the lowest scores. Civic League Virtual Annual Meeting
4:30 p.m. Click here to register. The Nantucket Civic League will host its annual meeting, including its “Civic Salute” to five community members, legislative updates from state Sent. Julian Cyr and state Rep. Dylan Fernandes.

Broadway Seminar Series
7 p.m. Click here to register. “Associates and Dance Captains” features 11 of New York City’s best dance captains, resident choreographers, associate directors and more giving an inside look into their work behind the table in New York City on Broadway and national tours. $45 for all 11 classes.

NCMC Parlor Concert

Climate Prep Week Discussion: Mapping our Resilience

The Atheneum joins Boston-based Communities Responding To Extreme Weather to host an overview of a Boston mapping project conducted by the Conservation Law Foundation and the city of Boston that explores the community assets that exist within the city of Boston and how they can be leveraged to create a more climate-resilient future.

Climate Prep Week Discussion: The Economics of Climate Change
7 p.m. Click here to register. The Atheneum joins Boston-based Communities Responding To Extreme Weather to host a discussion by Northeastern University instructor and environmental activist Madhavi Venkatesan about the relationship between economics and sustainability: social justice, environmental justice and economic equity and also how our focus on economic growth has facilitated the speed of global climate change and exacerbated social-justice issues along with the other two components of sustainability.

Climate Prep Week Discussion: How Repair Events Transform Throwaway Culture

The Atheneum joins Boston-based Communities Responding To Extreme Weather to host a conversation with Elizabeth Knight and John Wackman, authors of “Repair Revolution,” about how repair events in libraries and other spaces are helping bring people together around common goals of sustainability, stewardship, community resilience, as well as social and climate justice.

Climate Prep Week Discussion: Linked Fight for Racial Justice and Climate Change
6:30 p.m. Click here to register. The Atheneum joins Boston-based Communities Responding To Extreme Weather to host a conversation with CREW program director Reverend Vernon K. Walker as he speaks to Reverends Karlene Griffiths Sekou and Hajar Logan about how there is no climate justice without racial justice and how the fight for equality has to be led by those who have been most impacted. 

Friday, Oct. 2

Maria Mitchell Association Women of Science Symposium
1-4 p.m. Click here to register. The Maria Mitchell Association will host a free, shorter online version of its Women of Science Symposium, intended to engage women and girls in STEM. The second in-person symposium is scheduled for Sept. 23-25, 2021.

Saturday, Oct. 31

Trunk or Treat
4-7 p.m. Nantucket Public Schools, Surfside Road. Children are invited to trick or treat from the trunks of cars parked at the schools. Those looking to hand out candy need to register with the Chamber of Commerce and pay a $25 registration fee. Free to the public to pick up treats.
