Thiruvananthapuram: After the brand new subvariant JN.1 for COVID was detected, Kerela’s well being minister Veena George acknowledged that the subvariant is “not a cause of concern”.

“There is no need for any concern. It’s a sub-variant. It was just found here. Months ago, this variant was detected in a few Indians who were screened at the Singapore Airport,” the minister shared.
“It’s just that Kerala has identified the variant here through genome sequencing. There is no need to worry. The situation is being closely monitored,” the state minister added additional.
Senior officers from the Indian Council of Medical Research acknowledged that the brand new case was detected as a part of an ongoing routine surveillance exercise of the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG),
However, regardless of saying that the brand new subvariant was not a reason for fear, the state minister urged folks to stay cautious and vigilant.
As of Friday (December 15), India reported over 100 instances of the Omicron variant in 11 States, with Maharashtra registering the very best of 32 instances, acknowledged Joint Secretary within the Health Ministry Lav Agarwal.
