Kevin Smith, vice provost for analysis on the Naval Postgraduate School, anticipates that the newly established Office of Research and Innovation on the U.S. Navy-operated college will advance related analysis on rising applied sciences to offer new warfighting capabilities.

The workplace was created to assist present full-spectrum capabilities essential to progress the National Security Strategy and National Defense Strategy’s shared objective of sustaining U.S. technological superiority, NPS introduced on Monday.

“OR&I will be a support mechanism to take NPS’ research enterprise to an entirely new level, leveraging our naval innovation ecosystem – a network of academia, defense researchers and industry working with NPS faculty, students and the operational fleet,” Smith mentioned.

Smith leads OR&I because it seeks to help foundational analysis, encourage school and pupil engagement and facilitate formalized relationships to assist put together the Navy and Marine Corps for globally built-in and all-domain operations.

The workplace works with the Naval Warfare Studies Institute in establishing interdisciplinary, multi-organizational analysis groups to advertise swift innovation, prototyping and experimentation.
