Bengaluru: Microsoft-owned professional networking platform LinkedIn’s move to lay off 960 people globally will also impact India, in functions such as sales and talent acquisition. LinkedIn has three offices in India- Mumbai, Bengaluru and Gurgaon.

“The announcement impacts employees in our Global Sales and Talent Acquisition organisations. The changes we are making affect a number of our offices around the world, including India. As we invest in our most strategic areas for growth, we will be hiring for newly-created roles across the company, and we will work with employees impacted by today’s announcement to explore these opportunities,” a LinkedIn spokesperson told ET Now in a statement.

Earlier, LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky told employees that the platform would be cutting 960 jobs or 6% of its employee base globally due to the Covid19 pandemic.

“LinkedIn is not immune to the effects of the global pandemic. Our Talent Solutions business continues to be impacted as fewer companies, including ours, need to hire at the same volume they did previously. After weeks of discussion and deliberation, the executive team and I have made the extremely difficult decision to reduce approximately 960 roles, or about 6 per cent of our employee base, across our Global Sales and Talent Acquisition organizations.”

Roslansky added that this is the only reduction the company is planning as of now and impacted employees would get 10 weeks of severance pay, that might increase based on tenure and country-specific policies.
