WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — When renovations are completed this fall, the Grove at Wesley Chapel will bear little resemblance to the traditional mall Pasco County residents have grown used to seeing off Wesley Chapel Boulevard and Old Pasco Road.

Mishorim Gold Properties and developer Mark Gold are investing millions of dollars into the renovation of what was once a Cobb Theater and Cinebistro, turning it into what Gold describes as “the movie theater of the future.”

An outdoor miniature golf course and spin bikes in front of a movie screen are just some features of the new movie theater. The new Cinema & Entertainment Complex at the Grove will also have fully reclining seats in some theaters, a supervised kids’ playroom, a sushi bar and high-end restaurant, and a full arcade.

With coronavirus safety still a priority, the Cinema & Entertainment Complex will include high-tech sanitation technology like fogging machines and automated thermal temperature scan swing gates at the entrance.

“When you step foot inside the complex, you will be able to enjoy everything we have to offer without worrying about your safety,” Gold said. “It will be much safer than going to the grocery store.”

In addition to the focus on sanitation and safety, the 85,000-square-foot building is undergoing a complete renovation with an open-concept lobby, updated dining space, new color scheme, new floors, décor and light fixtures. The modern feel matches its offerings, which include:

• the 18-hole miniature golf course adjacent to the building
• the spin bikes inside one of the theater rooms to offer a breathtaking fitness experience
• assigned seating in all theaters with a socially distanced layout during the pandemic
• in-movie food service with contactless ordering within six of the 12 theaters
• fully reclinable seats in some theaters, the first in Tampa Bay
• a supervised play area that allows parents to drop off kids while they spin, watch a movie or shop
• a high-end sit-down restaurant
• an open theater that will serve as a performance hall for plays, concerts and productions

MGold has hired a management company to run the movie theater. The cinema project is just one segment of a reimagined Grove at Wesley Chapel.

MGold is spending $110 million to turn the Grove a downtown for Wesley Chapel, including a container park featuring restaurants and shops similar to Sparkman Wharf in Channelside and a water park.

The container park, a new concept of moveable shipping container buildings, features affordable space for businesses. It is set to open in the fall with 50 restaurants and retail shops and will feature live entertainment.

Since purchasing the Grove last year, MGold has signed on 73 news tenants. The 203-acre property is home to a unique mix of traditional big box stores and quaint village shops. Once renovations are completed, Gold said it will be transformed into a major shopping, entertainment and culinary destination in Pasco County.
