Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli had been concerned in an on-field spat throughout the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday (May 1).
Two days after the sport, Gambhir took to Twitter on Wednesday (May 3) and put out a cryptic tweet seemingly aimed toward a former Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) president can be a well-known information journalist, who had reportedly made feedback slamming Gambhir over his feud with Kohli. Gambhir took Twitter by storm with an indignant tweet wherein he known as the feedback as ‘Paid PR.’

“Man who ran away from Delhi Cricket citing “stress” seems over eager to sell paid PR as concern for cricket!,” mentioned Gambhir. Yehi Kalyug Hei, Jahan Bhagode Apni Court Chalate Hai (This is Kalyug the place ‘fugitives’ run their ‘court docket’,”) he added.

Gambhir and Kohli were both fined 100% of their match fees for the saga. Talking about the incident, Kohli had an on-field spat with Naveen-Ul-Haq during the closing stages of the match while the Afghan star was batting. The feud spilled into the post match handshakes, at which point Gambhir decided to get involved.

The visuals of Kohli and Gambhir batting together left the cricket fraternity in shock. Gambhir is the mentor of the Lucknow-based franchise. After LSG’s one-wicket win over RCB at Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier in the season, Gambhir made a finger at the lip gesture to the crowd.

Gambhir and Kohli are no strangers to on-field spats, as the duo had a tussle during the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) when Gambhir was Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain. Gambhir and Kohli both played together for the Delhi Ranji Team as well as the Indian Cricket Team . Gambhir and Kohli were part of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning team.

Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has called for both Gambhir and Kohli to be banned instead of just being fined. “So, my level, do one thing which can be sure that, this stuff do not occur once more. If it has to you recognize, prefer it occurred with Harbhajan and Sreesanth 10 years in the past, that you need to ask them to perhaps step apart for a few matches. Make certain you do one thing that ensures that this stuff do not occur and in addition one thing that may damage the crew. That’s a stiff one,”mentioned Gavaskar.
