NILES — Marilyn C. Roberts, 72, of Niles, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at The Cleveland Clinic.

She was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Warren, the daughter of Nick and Mary Tornabene Buzzanco.

She was a 1965 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, was employed at Delphi Packard Electric and owned and operated a baking and child care business out of her home.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, a former parish council member, a former president of John F. Kennedy All-Sports Boosters, a JFK Hall of Fame board member and was inducted into The JFK Hall of Fame in 2019.

Marilyn dedicated her life to years of service to her family and the community. She enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Marilyn’s baking and cooking were widely known and sought after and she was proud to share her gift with all. Everyone was welcomed at her table. She was a PTA president at Mount Carmel School and homeroom mom, Girl Scout Troop leader, JFK girls soccer booster president, and caregiver for so many children. Marilyn was the ultimate supporter of the WTC Rockers Soccer Club and JFK girls soccer program while her husband coached. She loved being able to cheer on all of her girls and grandchildren at their games with her signature line, “Come on girls, get tough out there.” Marilyn’s wit and sense of humor were unlike any others. She was the life of the party. Marilyn was a fixture in the community and touched the lives of everyone she met.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Billy Roberts, whom she married Dec. 30, 1982; two daughters, Maggie Sayers and her husband, Jeremy, of Niles and Katie Myers and her husband, Heath, of Niles; two brothers, James Buzzanco and his wife, Arlene, of Howland and Dr. Bob Buzzanco of Houston; four grandchildren, Chesney and Cody Sayers and Mia and Nina Myers; two special children in her life, Lauren DeCapito and William Goodwin; and several nieces, Nicole DeMatteis, Danielle DeMatteis Sidor and Marissa Buzzanco; and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many cousins.
