Over thirty docs in Mildura and the encompassing space have strengthened their educating and supervisory expertise because of free coaching supplied by Monash Rural Health’s North West Victoria Regional Training Hub.

The coaching is a part of the brand new Clinical Teaching and Education Pathway, a 3 stage program to strengthen educating and supervisory capacities amongst docs inside regional well being providers. The program was initially developed by Monash Rural Health’s Dr Lisa Hall, Senior Lecturer in Education and Evaluation, and was recognised with a Monash Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences’ Dean’s Award for Excellence in Education – Industry and Community Education Programs in 2022.

As a educating hospital, Mildura Base Public Hospital supervises over 40 Monash University medical college students on placement, in addition to 18 interns and 119 home medical officers, together with these seconded from different well being providers, annually.

Twelve of the collaborating native docs had been sponsored by the North West Victoria Regional Training Hub to additional develop their expertise in medical training and supervision by finishing a further workshop, delivered by the Monash Centre for Scholarship in Health Education in July.

The Monash Rural Health Regional Training Hubs facilitate speciality coaching and profession growth alternatives for junior docs, to assist them dwell, work and prepare rurally.  The Monash Regional Training Hubs are supported by the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program of the Department of Health and Aged Care.
