One unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing operation in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, taking the toll of militants to 12 in back-to-back encounters since October 8.

An official said on Saturday that the militant was killed during an ongoing encounter in Drangbal area of Pampore hamlet in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

“The operation was started at night,” the police said.

 

Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said a top LeT commander, Umar Mushtaq Khanday, who was involved in killing of two policemen at Baghat in Srinagar, was trapped in the Pampore encounter.

Khan was recently named among the top 10 militants in Kashmir.
