KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) will maintain strict health protocol and guidelines when they begin their preparations for the forthcoming second division qualifiers, asserted club’s head coach Yan Law and football secretary Dipendu Biswas.
State sports minister Aroop Biswas has granted permission and MSC are planning to begin training at their club ground on Monday followed by a residential camp in Kalyani from Tuesday.
“The club will follow and abide by all the guidelines and protocols for the safety of players and staff. On Sunday, we will conduct rapid Covid-19 tests of all players and staff at the club. On Monday, the players will assemble at the club for an introduction and team meeting. On Tuesday we will leave for Kalyani in the morning and start training from afternoon onwards,” Dipendu told TOI on Friday.
“In Kalyani, team members will be tested every seven days. Players will follow a strict routine while travelling between hotel and the ground. A separate tunnel will be made for the players to reach the ground. Also personal water bottles, towels, ice bath stations and excess training jerseys will be given,” he added.
The second division qualifiers will be held in the state after the All India Football Federation handed over the hosting rights to Indian Football Association.
“We are building the squad for the I-League, as we are confident of qualifying. Also the transfer window ends after the qualifiers and reopens in January next year. But the I-League begins this December, so we are not wasting any time now and signing our choice of players” Yan said.
“The players have not been able to practice properly for a long time, so it might take a bit of time to regroup. I am confident that as professionals, they will be back to their best shape very soon,” the former Punjab FC coach added.
Matches live on social media:
Keeping in mind the huge fan base, the club plans to telecast the qualifiers live on their social media platform. “We will miss the fans a lot. Keeping them in mind, if the matches are not shown in television, we are planning to live stream our matches in our social media platforms. Through this fans will get to watch the team and cheer for them,” Dipendu said.
