To commemorate twenty fifth National Technology Day, Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam performed a workshop on “Use of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) and Emerging technologies in Ship Repairs and Construction” on 11 May 2023. A complete of 350 personnel from numerous Naval models, OEMs and 4 Shipyards participated in workshop, aside from scientists from IGCAR Kalpakkam and BARC. The workshop touched upon facets associated to NDT and Emerging Technologies and its utilization for warships throughout refits. Technologies similar to use of AI in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) /Radiographic Testing (RT), Drone survey of buildings, NDT methods for Residual Life Assessment of Gas Turbines and Boilers have been additionally deliberated upon. Speakers have been felicitated by Admiral Superintendent, Rear Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, who urged all stakeholders to assimilate and implement takeaways of workshop in discipline of warship repairs and development.
