Netflix is in development on a docuseries from UK-based Don’t F**k with Cats and Gold Rush  producer Raw TV and BBH Entertainment (Spirits in the Forest) that delves into the controversial Woodstock ’99 festival.

The festival set to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original 1969 event drew crowds upwards of 400,000 from July 22-25 to Rome, New York. The scene at Griffiss Air Force Base would soon become marred by a string of disastrous events, from poor environmental conditions to crime, and ending in a fiery riot during a performance by The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Woodstock ’99 followed Woodstock ’94, a similarly star-crossed commemoration of the festival’s 25th anniversary.

The yet-untitled docuseries will include archive footage and testimony from both those who worked at the ’99 event and those who attended the festival, which had been covered extensively by MTV.

The series follows in the footsteps of Netflix’s popular documentary Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, produced by Vice Media.
