New Delhi: The future of Netflix gaming services for iOS seems to lie in a limbo and the streaming giant’s games may be available for Android users only in future as Apple’s App Store rules do not allow third parties to set up all-in-one gaming service apps and these set of rules have caused Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming from launching for iOS devices in the past.

According to a report by news agency Bloomberg, Netflix is likely to release every game individually on the Apple App Store. This also means the Netflix games will not be available for downloading or playing via the Netflix app.

Apple’s App Store policies do not allow third-party apps from functioning as a mini app store or hub for games.

In a big push to its gaming ambitions, Netflix announced last week it has started rolling out mobile games for its users on Android devices globally, after weeks of tests in select markets.

An Android user needs to have a Netflix subscription to play these games.

“We love games, whether it’s physical games (Floor Is Lava), mind games (The Circle) or Squid Game😉. And we love entertaining our members. That’s why we’re excited to take our first step in launching Netflix games on mobile to the world. Starting today, members everywhere can play five mobile games: Stranger Things: 1984 (BonusXP), Stranger Things 3: The Game (BonusXP), Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop), Card Blast (Amuzo & Rogue Games), and Teeter Up (Frosty Pop),” Mike Verdu, VP, Game Development at Netflix had said in a statement.
