Hyderabad: For effective enumeration of cattle in the State and prevent diversion of sheep distributed by the State government to the black market, Noida-based Geostat Infomatics India Private Limited has suggested collection of nose print biometrics of animals using digital technology.

Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar on Sunday assured to take up the issue with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

TRS Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency in-charge Marri Rajashekhar Reddy along with Geostat Informatics India managing director Vivek Reddy called on Vinod Kumar and made a presentation on usage of digital technology to take the photographs of cattle to collect the nose print biometrics. They said unlike the traditional method of tagging the ears of animals, the nose print biometric cannot be tampered with by the blackmarketeers. Similar to finger print biometrics of humans, nose print biometrics of cattle are unique to each animal and cannot be tampered with.

Vivek Reddy, a native of Telangana State, said several nations including the US, Australia, New Zealand and a few European nations were using the nose print technology to implement animal insurance schemes.
