An online concert held at the Prambanan temple in Yogyakarta is set to be aired live on Saturday.

The concert is part of the annual Prambanan Jazz Festival’s pre-event series, which has been rescheduled to Oct. 30 and Nov. 1 this year. It is to be livestreamed on subscription TV service UseeTV and its mobile application at 3:30 p.m.

“This will be the first virtual music concert in Indonesia that is aired live from a cultural heritage site at a time of pandemic,” the CEO of promoter Rajawali Indonesia, Anas Syahrul Alimi, told an online press briefing on Friday.

He added the concert would be conducted by implementing standard health protocol and held without an audience on site.

Notable performers in the lineup are Rio Febrian, Frau and Langit Sore.

“This [online concert aims] to entertain the people’s longing for the Prambanan Jazz Festival and encourage the industries of entertainment and tourism to be productive again,” Anas said.

First held in 2015, the Prambanan Jazz Festival is an annual event with the concept of blending music and the temple. This year’s edition was initially scheduled for July 3-5.

“The music industry has to continue [despite the pandemic]. We will continue to conduct this heritage music concert periodically,” Anas said. (kes)
