The opposition events have been disrupting the House proceedings throughout the Monsoon session of the Parliament demanding that the prime minister make a press release on the ethnic violence in Manipur. However, they briefly stopped the protest because the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill was launched in Lok Sabha.

“I thank the opposition leader, he has allowed the House to function without the presence of the prime minister,” Owaisi stated.

“Chess and ludo are being played in the House,” Owaisi quipped.

“They are playing chess,” he stated, pointing to the treasury benches, whereas “this side is playing ludo”.

Owaisi’s AIMIM just isn’t a part of the 26-member opposition bloc that has been fashioned to problem Prime Minister Narendra Modi within the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The AIMIM chief, nonetheless, asserted that the invoice violated Article 123, saying the Constitution can’t be amended with a easy invoice.

“It is a violation of the theory of separation of powers, and it is SC judgement of a five-membered bench from 2018 so that is why I am saying that the house does not have legislative competence for this bill and that is why I am opposing it,” he stated.

The proposed laws, which provides the Delhi Lieutenant Governor a ultimate say on the switch and posting of officers of the town authorities, will strengthen the Central authorities’s management over the nationwide capital. The invoice was authorized by the Union Cabinet on July 25.

Union house minister Amit Shah asserted that Parliament is empowered to make legal guidelines for Delhi and termed the objection to it “politically motivated”.
