NEW DELHI: Pakistan on Saturday included the name of Dawood Ibrahim in a list of terror outfits and leaders against whom it is imposing tough financial sanctions to escape the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) blacklist.
In a notification released by the Pakistan government, Dawood’s address has been listed as “White House, near Saudi Mosque, Clifton in Karachi”.

The inclusion of Dawood’s name and address in the sanctions list is a clear admission by Pakistan that the 1993 Mumbai blasts accused is living in the country.
India has hit out at Pakistan at various global forums for “sheltering” the D-Company leader and has demanded that the neighbouring country should hand him over for his role in the 1993 blasts.

Earlier this month, India told the UN Security Council that Dawood continues to enjoy “patronage” in a neighbouring country, calling for focused international efforts to address threats posed by the fugitive gangster and terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The perpetrator of the Mumbai blasts, “unsurprisingly, continues to enjoy patronage in a neighbouring country, a hub for arms trafficking and narcotics trade, along with other terrorists and terrorist entities that have been proscribed by the United Nations,” the statement said without naming any country.
“India has been a victim of terrorism sponsored from across our border. We have experienced first-hand the cruel linkage between transnational organised crime and terrorism.
“An organised crime syndicate, the D-Company, that used to smuggle gold and counterfeit currencies transformed into a terrorist entity overnight causing a series of bomb blasts in the city of Mumbai in 1993. The attack resulted in the loss of more than 250 innocent lives and damage to property worth millions of dollars,” India had said in the statement.
Last year, Pakistan had denied the presence of the underworld don in the country after the US told a London court that the gangster was in exile in Pakistan and operates from Karachi.
