With the Pixel 4a out of the bag, Google has turned its attention to its flagship, the Pixel 5, which is to be released this year. The phone is expected to be compatible with 5G networks. Renders that were leaked in the past few days show that the new Pixel could sport a dual-camera system on the rear. Image published by OnLeaks on Twitter show that there will be a fingerprint sensor on the back, as opposed to an on-screen variant.

On the front, the phone has an all-screen, bezel-less display similar to the Pixel 4a. In place of a notch is a punch-hole cutout on the top left for the selfie camera. If the leaks are to be believed, the material used will have a similar matte black finish and texture, akin to its mid-range sibling, the Pixel 4a. There could be other colour options; the incumbent flagship, the Pixel 4 is available in black, white, and orange.

The details gleaned from photos of the Pixel 5’s exteriors do not reveal how much of an upgrade it will be over the incumbent. The all-screen face is now common with most mid-range phones. A fingerprint sensor is a sensible option, given unlock mechanism that use facial recognition are less efficient these days, especially in public, where the wearing of face masks has become the norm.

It is also not known if Google will go with a telephoto secondary lens, or will use a wide-angle lens in its stead. The screen size will be between 5.7 and 5.8 inches, according to details shared as a part of the Onleaks render. Other tipsters have suggested that the Pixel 5 will have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G under the hood, and that the price of the phone could be significantly less than flagships from Apple and Samsung.
