PM Modi US Visit Live Updates: PM Modi, Australia's Scott Morrison Hold Bilateral Talks

PM Modi US visit Updates: He will also hold talks with Scott Morrison and Yoshihide Suga today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on an official US visit, is holding bilateral talks with his Australian counter Scott Morrison. Earlier in the day, he held one-on-one meetings with the CEOs of Qualcomm, Adobe, First Solar, General Atomics and Blackstone in Washington.

PM Modi will also meet US Vice President Kamala Harris today, besides other state heads like Australia’s Scott Morrison and Japan’s Yoshihide Suga.

This will be the first in-person meeting between US Vice President Harris and PM Modi, after the two talked over phone in June amid the deadly COVID-19 wave in India.

PM Modi, who is on his seventh visit to the US since assuming office in 2014, will travel to New York on September 24 and address the UN General Assembly the next day.

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon’s statement after meeting PM Modi: “I want to thank Prime Minister Modi for our conversation, his commitment to growing India’s technology sector and creating a business-friendly environment. We discussed the importance of semiconductors and the need for reliable and geographically diverse supply chain. PM Narendra Modi met Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman today, during which they discussed the various investment opportunities in India, including those arising due to the National Infrastructure Pipeline and National Monetisation Pipeline, said the Prime Minister’s Office in a tweet.

PM Narendra Modi met Shantanu Narayen, CEO, Adobe on Thursday and discussed Adobe’s ongoing activities in India and future investment plans, said MEA in a tweet. “Ideas to leverage Digital India flagship programme in sectors like health, education and R&D were also discussed,” said the tweet.

Qualcomm CEO Expressed Keenness To Work With India In Areas Like 5G: PMO

PM Modi on Thursday met Qualcomm president and CEO Cristiano R. Amon. Calling it a “productive interation”, the PMO said in a tweet that the prime minister highlighted the vast opportunities India offers. “Mr. Amon expressed keenness to work with India in areas such as 5G and other digital India efforts,” it said.

PM Modi Meets CEOs Of Qualcomm, Adobe, Other Firms

PM Modi has begun his engagements in the US with a meeting with leading American CEOs. The prime minister held one-on-one meetings with the CEOs of Qualcomm, Adobe, First Solar, General Atomics and Blackstone, in Washington. Two of them are Indian-Americans – Shantanu Narayen from Adobe and Vivek Lall from General Atomics.

On US Visit, PM Modi To Meet Australia, Japan Prime Ministers Today

Next, PM Modi will be meeting his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison, with whom he spoke over call last week to review the progress of India-Australia Comprehensive Partnership which includes the pertinent 2+2 dialogue. Later in the day, PM Modi will also hold an one-on-one meeting with Japan’s PM Yoshihide Suga, focused on bilateral ties between the two counties.

PM Modi To Meet CEOs Of Qualcomm, Adobe, Other Firms At 7 Today

PM Modi’s packed day includes a meeting with global CEOs, including Cristiano E Amon from Qualcomm, Shantanu Narayen from Adobe, Mark Widmar from First Solar, Vivek Lall from General Atomics and Stephen A Schwarzman from Blackstone, according to news agency ANI. Shantanu Narayen and Vivek Lall are Indian Americans. The meeting will be held at 7 PM today.
